Harald Björk was born and raised in a Stockholm suburb surrounded by lots of producers, basement bands and nature. His interest in recordings started early when he found his father’s old tape recorder which became a playground where he could record various sounds, mixtapes and his punk band.

As a teenager Harald got interested in Dj’ing, bought his first decks and started playing Hip-Hop. In upper secondary school he got in touch with the Swedish techno scene and took up the contact with his old childhood friend Petter Nordkvist and met Özgur Can. After a creative year in Berlin, releases on Deep Focus, Traum Schallplatten, Apparillo Music and three years at university, Harald is now living in Stockholm again.

He recently released his second EP, Sunsets on Apparillo Music. In the year of 2009 Harald is focusing on live performances and is also starting up an own record label called Kranglan Broadcast with first release scheduled in November.

Harald Björk’s music is a naive and emotional, melodic type of minimal techno with a melancholic Scandinavian touch. His music can be described as a mixture between the gear-geek playfulness of Aphex Twin, the pop-influenced, melodic electronica of early Röyksopp spiced with minimal beats from Berlin and Cologne.

Harald made a name for himself with his ep release Brus on Traum Schallplatten and his music is often appreciated by followers of labels such as Border Community, Kompakt or Cocoon Recordings. His records are played by Dj’s like James Holden, Sven Väth, Miss Kittin and Four Tet among others.

In his live performances Harald uses a computer filled with chopped up feelings and a bunch of analogue machines and controllers to build up atmospheres of naive love and screaming frustration. His sets take you on a journey diving into melancholic melodic adventures escalating in exploding breaks winding up in motorically beats.

Harald Björk nació y creció en un suburbio de Estocolmo rodeado por un montón de productores musicales, bandas de garaje y entornos naturales. Su interés por las grabaciones comenzó muy pronto cuando un día encontró la vieja grabadora de casettes de su padre. Pronto se convirtió en su patio de recreo dónde pudo grabar diversos sonidos, a su banda de punk y hacer remezclas.

Cómo adolescente Harald se interesó por pinchar discos, compró sus primeros platos y comenzó a pinchar Hip-Hop. En la escuela superior de secundaria entró en contacto con la escena techno de Suecia y se reencontró con su antiguo amigo de la infancia Petter Nordkvist al tiempo que conoció a Özgur Can. Después de un año creativo en Berlín, publicaciones en Deep Focus, Traum Schallplatten, Apparillo Music y tres años en la universidad, Harald está viviendo de nuevo en Estocolmo.
